Eartha S. Dunston is a dynamic professional passionate about helping others navigate life’s complexities through social services and storytelling. She holds a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Alabama State University. With over 20 years of experience in federal disability programs, she is a recognized expert in Social Security Disability and Retirement consultation.
Eartha dedicated 15 years as a Claims Representative at the Social Security Administration, where she gained deep expertise in disability and retirement claims processes. As a Program Analyst at the agency's headquarters, she spent 2 years on an elite executive team tasked with writing and modernizing disability policies and procedures.
Notably, Eartha trained over 64,000 Social Security employees on the Electronic Disability System and updates to disability procedures and policies, earning a prestigious award for her significant contributions.
As a certified mediator with the Supreme Court of Virginia and a skilled negotiator, Eartha S. Dunston expertly facilitates complex discussions between parties. Eartha is a co-author of "Necessary Goodness: Delicious Cuisine for Gathering and Entertaining" and contributing author to "Writing Our Lives: A Southern Storytellers Anthology."
Eartha is deeply committed to her community, demonstrated through her involvement with the Celebrate! Maya Project, which promotes literacy and honors the legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou. She also works with The Kidadah Project, focusing on literacy and social consciousness.
Based in the Metro Washington, D.C. area, Eartha enjoys traveling, writing poetry, and creating stories across various genres. She is working on her debut solo cookbook and has published a line of journals.
